Excerpts from testimonies of widows: |
|
Marie Uzamukunda, widow 2 children:
"I am a widow. Through this project, we have
been empowered to do something for our benefit. Our
eyes were opened for more opportunities. The small
animals we received have improved our economical
status and the quality of our food. We have crops we
take to the market and receive money. We are able to
buy clothes for ourselves and our children. We have
paid for health insurance. As example, the male goat
that my goat bore was sold at Frw 18,000. Now I have
a bank account. "Moreover, I have been
supported to make my unfinished house habitable.
Rose
Nyirabagoyi, 79, widow, childless (all killed),
lives alone. "Because of your help, I am now
a small farmer. I had nothing before. My goat has
given birth to male. This will make some income. I
have also received 2 chicken. Both of them have
already chicks. Some of the eggs from my chicken are
sold. Now I can buy salt, soap without a problem
although I am 79 years old, and I do not need to beg
anymore.
Epiphania Kabera, widow,
childless: "I had nothing before this project.
Now you made me rich with the animals I received and
I like to work in my garden. My goat gave birth to
another one and now they are 2. The chickens have
also 6 chick, and I sold eggs. I have manure for my
garden.
